Air fry chilli cheese toast at 180°C (356°F) for 5 minutes.
Cheese toast under a grill can scorch on top before the cheese fully melts, but the air fryer's circulating heat browns the cheese evenly across the whole surface, so the edges crisp at the same rate the center bubbles.

Ingredients
4 slices bread
1 cup grated cheese
1–2 green chillies, finely chopped (optional)
¼ capsicum, finely chopped (optional)
¼ onion, finely chopped (optional)
Butter, for spreading (optional)
Oregano, to sprinkle (optional)
Steps
Butter the bread slices generously on one side so the edges crisp instead of drying out.
In a bowl, mix the grated cheese with the chopped green chillies, capsicum and onion so every bite gets a bit of each.
Pile the cheese mixture onto the buttered side of each bread slice, mounding it slightly since cheese spreads and settles as it melts.
Sprinkle oregano over the top.
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C.
Place the bread slices in the basket, weighing them down with a small rack or parchment weight if your fan tends to lift them.
Air fry for 3 minutes.
Check the cheese — if it's melting unevenly, rotate the slices.
Air fry for a final 2 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese bubbles and turns golden in spots — it can go from melted to burnt quickly at this temperature.
Tip: Put a small rack or parchment weight on top if your fan lifts the bread.

Serving & Storage
Serving: Serve hot with a cup of masala chai or tomato ketchup on the side for a quick teatime snack.
Storage: Best eaten immediately since the bread turns soggy once the cheese cools; not really suited to storage, but if needed, refrigerate up to 1 day and re-crisp in the air fryer at 180°C for 3 minutes.
