Air Fryer Masala Omelette

Air fry masala omelette at 170°C (338°F) for 10 minutes.

A small tin set inside the air fryer basket acts like a mini oven, cooking the omelette evenly from all sides so it puffs slightly and sets through the middle without the flipping a stovetop omelette needs — it comes out closer to a firm frittata than a soft folded omelette.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • ½ onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • ½ tomato, chopped (optional)
  • 1 green chilli, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander (optional)
  • A pinch of turmeric (optional)
  • 2 tbsp grated cheese (optional)
  • Salt, pepper, oil or butter for greasing

Steps

  1. Grease a small cake tin or oven-safe dish that fits your basket generously, so the set egg releases cleanly instead of tearing.
  2. Beat the eggs with salt, pepper and turmeric.
  3. Stir in the onion, tomato, green chilli and coriander, keeping the vegetables finely chopped so they cook through in the same time as the egg.
  4. Pour the mixture into the greased tin.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 170°C.
  6. Place the tin in the basket and air fry for 8 minutes.
  7. Check the center — a slight jiggle is fine, it firms up as it rests.
  8. Scatter the grated cheese over the top.
  9. Air fry for a final 2 minutes so the cheese melts without over-browning.
  10. Let it rest briefly before turning out or serving straight from the tin.

Tip: Eat it with toast or roll it up in a chapati.

Serving & Storage

Serving: Best with a stack of buttered toast fingers, or rolled into a warm chapati for an on-the-go breakfast wrap.

Storage: Best fresh, since reheated eggs turn rubbery; if needed, keep 1 day in the fridge and reheat in the air fryer at 150°C for 3 minutes rather than the microwave, which overcooks it fast.
