Air fry avocado fries at 200°C (392°F) for 8 minutes.
Avocado fries take the creamy centre of a ripe avocado and give it a crisp shell, a texture you can't get any other way. The air fryer is what makes this practical at home — it browns the coating fast enough that the avocado underneath stays cool and soft instead of turning to mush.

Ingredients
2 firm avocados, sliced into wedges
3 tbsp flour
1 egg, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs
A pinch of chilli powder (optional)
Lemon, to finish (optional)
Salt, oil spray
Steps
Choose avocados that are ripe but still firm enough to slice cleanly — one that gives too much under gentle pressure will fall apart in the coating stage.
Slice each avocado in half, remove the pit, and cut into wedges.
Mix the chilli powder into the breadcrumbs.
Set up three shallow bowls: flour, beaten egg, and the seasoned breadcrumbs.
Coat each wedge in flour, then egg, then the breadcrumbs, pressing gently so the crumbs adhere without crushing the wedge underneath.
Preheat the air fryer to 200°C and arrange the wedges in a single layer, leaving gaps between them.
Spray with oil and air fry for 4 minutes.
Turn each wedge over carefully and air fry for the remaining 4 minutes, until the coating is crisp and evenly golden on both sides.
Season with salt as soon as they come out of the basket, while the coating is still hot enough for it to stick.
Finish with a squeeze of lemon — the acidity cuts through the richness of the avocado — and serve right away.
Tip: Handle the wedges gently when coating — very ripe avocado can fall apart.

Serving & Storage
Serving: Serve straight away with a chipotle or garlic mayo for dipping, or tuck them into a taco with slaw.
Storage: These don't reheat well since the avocado turns grainy once chilled — best eaten fresh, within minutes of coming out of the basket.
