Air Fryer Pasta Chips

Air fry pasta chips at 200°C (392°F) for 10 minutes.

Pasta chips took over social media for a reason — leftover boiled pasta turns into a genuinely crunchy, cheesy snack that's a nice change from the usual potato-based fried food. Good use for a bit of extra pasta from another meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pasta (penne or bowties), boiled al dente
  • 3 tbsp grated cheese (optional)
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs (optional)
  • ½ tsp paprika or chilli (optional)
  • 1 garlic clove, grated (optional)
  • 1 tbsp oil, salt

Steps

  1. Boil the pasta until just al dente, then drain well.
  2. Spread it out and let it steam dry for a few minutes - any lingering surface moisture will stop it from crisping properly.
  3. Toss the pasta with the oil, cheese, herbs, spices and salt so every piece is coated, not just the ones on top.
  4. Preheat the air fryer and spread the pasta in a single layer - piled pasta steams instead of crisping.
  5. Air fry at 200°C for 4 minutes.
  6. Shake the basket and air fry another 3 minutes.
  7. Shake again and air fry the final 3 minutes (10 minutes total), until crunchy and deep golden.
  8. Check a piece has gone properly crisp all the way through, not just on the surface.
  9. Serve with a dip while still warm and at their crunchiest.

Tip: Spread in one layer. Piled pasta steams instead of crisping.

Serving & Storage

Serving: Serve with a marinara or garlic dip as a shareable snack.

Storage: Refrigerate for up to 2 days and reheat in the air fryer at 190°C for 3–4 min to bring the crunch back; the microwave will make them chewy.
